Since a lot of Gerber multitool owners are do-it-yourself kind of guys, there is often the question of whether they can buy Gerber multi tool replacement parts. Sadly, that's not an option.
When asked, Gerber Gear offered the following explanation as to why Gerber multi tool replacement parts are unavailable:
Thank you for contacting Gerber Legendary Blades regarding Gerber multi tool replacement parts. For liability reasons, we do not sell or send individual blades, jaws, or bits through the mail; any part that requires disassembly of the product. Our products are designed to be disassembled by our trained personnel. Returned products are inspected and reassembled by our personnel to ensure optimum performance. Attempting to disassemble your Gerber product yourself may result in lost components and compromise the overall performance, plus it may also void your warranty.
In addition, Gerber stated that they warrant their products to be free of defects in material and workmanship for as long as you own the product. For that reason, Gerber multi tool replacement parts are really unnecessary, since the item can be returned for replacement or repair.
Of course, Gerber's warranty doesn't cover damage due to acts of nature, accident, improper use, abuse, negligence, or modification, which is another reason they don't offer replacement parts. If the product failed while being used as it is intended to be used, Gerber will service it under the warranty.
To obtain warranty service for any Gerber product, send the product, an explanation of the defect, your name, address, and phone number, to Gerber Legendary Blades, Attn: Service Dept., 14200 SW 72nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97224 via UPS, FedEx, or insured mail. Gerber will cover all return shipping costs. Allow 3-5 weeks for return.
More information about the limited lifetime warranty that makes Gerber multi tool replacement parts unnecessary can be found online. Or contact Gerber directly, if you prefer.
There Is A Couple Options
Both options below are found in multi tool accessories.
Even with Gerber's warranty on all their tools, you can still replace one component, and that happens to be the Gerber Carbide Cutter Inserts. In some of Gerber's multi tools, these cutters are used for cutting wire, fence, twine, etc. These cutters can become worn overtime, and definitely need replacing, and with the supplied allen wrench, the job is easier than changing the oil on a Volkswagen.
Other options, that aren't really Gerber multi tool replacement parts at all, but are more of extra tools, are the Gerber ten piece tool kits. They will adapt to most any Gerber multi tool, giving you extra bits, like hex heads, extra small flat head and Phillips or cross drivers.
